WHAT'S THE ISSUE?

Animal Cruelty- How you can help stop it

You’ve probably seen animals at the zoo before- there are lions, tigers, pandas, and many more fascinating animals. And although it’s cool to see all of these creatures, it is also important to put yourselves in the animals’ shoes- Many of these cool animals we like to see at the zoo or at the circus are being treated unfairly.

You can help stop animal cruelty. If you would like to learn more about this issue you can read the book The One and Only Ivan or you can watch the movie on Disney Plus. The One and Only Ivan is an inspiring and true tale about a gorilla who was captured and raised in captivity in a mall but eventually is taken to a safe zoo where he lives in peace.

Another way you can help stop animal cruelty is by donating to the ASPCA (The American Society for prevention of cruelty to animals) When you donate to the ASPCA, you can help animals who are in danger and who are being abused.

There is also the issue of animal testing. Many companies test their products on animals, which can harm the animal being tested on. When you go to the grocery store, look for products that say “not tested on animals” on them. Doing this helps animals and also discourages animal testing.

Lastly, because of pollution and poaching caused by humans, many of the animals we love are endangered. Take the Orangutan for example. Native to Indonesia and Malaysia, these animals used to roam free in the wild. Orangutans are now critically endangered, which means there are very few orangutans left. You can help endangered animals by donating to the World Wide Fund for Nature. By donating, you can help save many animals that are in danger.

These are only a few ways you can help. There are many other things you can do to stop animal cruelty. We hope that this article informed you more about animal cruelty and what you can do to stop it.

“Life is very vivid to animals. In many cases they know who they are. They know who their friends are and who their rivals are. They have ambitions for higher status. They compete. Their lives follow the arc of a career, like ours do.”

-CARL SAFINA, ECOLOGIST AND CONSERVATIONIST

EMPOWERING ACTIVITY

Finding Beauty in Nature

A good way to wind down or just take a break from your daily routine is to go on a walk or a hike. You can take a quick stroll around your neighborhood, or you can take a hike in a park or even the mountains! It's actually been scientifically proven that being in nature helps you unwind and relax. When you're in nature, think of everything that you appreciate or are grateful for. Taking a break from your daily routine can really help you appreciate the beauty in nature.

MAIN ARTICLE

Finding Yourself

It can be hard to find yourself and as time goes by your beliefs or values may change. But it can come in handy if you know who you are and what decisions you are going to make. Of course, it still may take years and years to find out who you really are but here are some quick and simple ways that you can head on the path to finding yourself.

1. One way you can start is by taking the 16 Personalities Quiz with shockingly accurate results. This quiz is well known and determines your personality type by analyzing the answers you picked to a few simple questions.

2. Another way you can find yourself is by trying new things. The more you try new things, the easier it is to find out what you like and what you enjoy. Trying new things also makes you more open-minded and willing to compromise.

3. Lastly, think about your interests. What are your interests? What are you not interested in? Knowing what your interests are can help you be happier by doing what you want.

Although it can seem hard to know who you are at times, it's really simple! We hope this article helped you take the path to knowing yourself better.
